Macaroons In Paris

Suggested to me by a friend, I decided to venture into Pierre Hermé when I was in Paris. Yes, this venue is basic. Yes, it’s overpriced. Yes, it’s for basic girls that most likely have frivolous money to spend. But, it’s also a place for those that have lost all hope in macaroons and are looking for even the slightest consolation that they do, indeed, live up to the hype. And as a nonbeliever turned worshipper, I can attest, these will be worth your while.

I bet there are much better places to get macaroons, mostly because as stated above, this isn’t exactly a ‘local’ and ‘hidden’ find, however, it’s obviously made drastic developments in its store expansions for a reason right? It wouldn’t have exploded into such a massive franchise if it weren’t actually good, right? Right I say! The staff was beyond friendly, helping out with my indescribably awful French pronunciations, and even recommending their favorite flavors to me.

Biting into one of these precious gifts from God was a spiritual experience I will eternally cherish. I highly recommend trying out the luxuriously velvet-like flavors of chocolate or pistachio – but in all honesty, you could probably buy out the entire store and still not have a favorite per-say, they’re all just so unbelievably delicious.

I guess it has a little something to do with my home countries *cough cough America* inability to reproduce such a fine delicacy, but I guess that’s what makes traveling all that more satisfying and exciting! I never understood the Tumblr hype over macaroons. I thought they were as bland as an 8 by 11 piece of paper. Where’s the spice? Where’s the flavor? Where’s the spirit? No need to worry, Paris did my dirty, and to my horror, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat a macaroon that isn’t born and bred in its home country again. All the more reason to visit France again, right??
