Top 5 Things To Do In Strasbourg
Strasbourg, in my opinion, is a highly overshadowed beauty that's waiting to be basked in the glory of bountiful and curious tourists. It's on the eastern side of France, and isn't necessarily the biggest town. But what it lacks for in breadth, it most certainly makes up for in depth. This quaint town is filled with extraordinary experiences waiting to be discovered, and will steal your heart if you're willing and daring enough to try.
1. Strasbourg France
Just like the rest of Europe, here’s another church to look at! Honestly, it was alright, I wouldn’t necessarily rave about it, but it was something right? It’s also smack dab in the center of Petite France which is one of the most precious areas of the city, so if you’re trying to find a solid meeting point/a place to back track to after exploring, this one’s a great place for it.
2. Galleries Lafayette
Alright, so this one isn’t as transformative as the one in Paris, but, it has Pierre Hermé (yum!) and clothing at much more affordable prices (whoopee!). It’s a lovely place to remind yourself how much money you really don’t have to spend, but it’s also my go to place for free bathroom breaks (joy) and pricey macaroons (sigh).
3. Petite France
Indisputably the most beautiful section of Strasbourg, you’ll find it flocked with tourists and quaint historical buildings throughout the twisted cobblestone streets. It’s incredibly picturesque and equally exciting with candy colored houses on every street, and delicious foods found around every corner.
4. Protestant Church of St. Peter the Younger
Once again, I accidentally stumbled upon this hidden gem located in Petite France, and it was one of my all-time favorite and most underrated finds. Although seemingly not much on the surface, as the proverbial saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover, and surprise me, it did. My eyes were overwhelmed by the intricate detailing on the inside – despite how worn and old it was. Walking around the mysterious place of worship felt as though you were actually stepping straight through time and into a world unlike your own. And because it’s not popular as other churches, it’ll be free from annoying tourists, giving you a quiet moment to enjoy your views peacefully.
5. Wine & Cheese Tasting
There’s plenty of specialty cheese stores around Strasbourg just calling your name to indulge in some exquisitely creamy and diving cheeses, paired perfectly with a glass of French wine! There are also great deals on some fun wine tours all over the city, so be sure to give those a gander if you have the time (and liver)!
